Papers of physician and educator Farrington Daniels, Jr. from Madison, Wisconsin. Daniels served in the Army Medical Corps in the Pacific from 1944 to 1947 and later worked as a civilian employee of the Army conducting laboratory and field investigations on the effects of heat and cold on personnel, the effects of clothing on the skin, and research on atomic bomb test sites. He later held positions as professor of dermatology at the University of Oregon, the University of Illinois, and at Cornell University/The New York Hospital. The collection documents Daniels' personal and professional activities mainly through correspondence dating from 1927; personal diaries, 1934-1942; and research notes (on microfilm). An avid photographer from boyhood, the collection includes many still and motion picture images taken by Daniels, from the 1930s to the 1990s, documenting family events; the Philippines (during the 1940s); Madison, Wisconsin (especially the Nakoma neighborhood); the University of Wisconsin Arboretum; Door County, Wisconsin; and New York City. The processed portion is summarized above, dates 1921-1998, and is described in the register. Additional accessions date circa 1934-1999 and are described below.
